Agricultural drilling
The Ministry of Environment and Fight Against Climate Change establishes very specific construction criteria. This is why there are precise distances to respect when drilling a well in an agricultural area.
The well must be more than 30 meters (100 feet) from any:
- Animal breeding facility
- Animal waste storage facility
- Pasture (or exercise yard)
- Composting area
- Wastewater treatment center
- Plot (field, meadow, vineyard, orchard, etc.)
Note that when drilling on your farmland, you’ll have to take into account future development projects, such as the expansion of your facilities.
Since farms have greater water needs than residences, including the need to not run out of water, 8-inch pipes (instead of 6-inch) are recommended to pump the water. With this difference in diameter alone, the water reserve is nearly doubled – greatly reducing the chances of running out of water to ensure the smooth running of farm activities.
